good to see the site and forum back in action
More or less we still have some more work to do, and even more once the site and forums are fully operational.
well its here any idea what happened?
Could you elaborate on what you mean by that? Do you mean the sudden update of the web site?
i mean the sudden shutdown of the website
it wasn't supposed to be a "shutdown", we just moved the site to an other server, and it took a bit longer than we expected.
the old forums were wiped because of the sheer amount of inactive and spam accounts, and considering that we will likely start the game again from scratch, the old forum topics wouldn't be very useful after all.
ok makes sense firefox treated it like it was gona self destruct haha
Oh, that was a different problem, and one of the other reasons we decided to start everything from scratch... somebody hacked the old site and forum and inserted hazardous code into every page, so Firefox blocked it for being an attacked site. If you have sensible virus and trojan protection on your PC then I'm sure nothing bad would have happened to you if you ignored the warning and entered anyway (like I did). =)
Anyways, the old game, the old site, the old forum, it's all old news now... we have a new Project Leader (me), a whole new coding team, so we're putting those last few miserable decades behind us and we're gonna try to give the Street Rod 3 name the respect it deserves! =)
yeah i didnt enter windows has enuf problems already without that to deal with anyway good to see that street rod may come alive once more have you made a car list?
first we need a game, then we can think about cars :)
once development is underway, we will surely ask the community what they would like to see in the game.
You guys keep using the phrase "from scratch". . .

Yes cdoublejj, it's a common English slang term that means "right from the beginning again". Have you not heard this before? It means that we're doing everything from the ground up, scrapping the previous work and starting again with a new funky fresh version with modern technology and skills. Yay! =)
:D
Go for it!! Ive been waiting a long time for this game :)
Okey finaly im in.....
I LOVED the old SR games.its what started my pc addiction.Thx for creating a new game.
What kinda features is going to be put into SR3?
i would love a game with all the old consepts but with maybe a few more addons.maybe move the time forward a bit.out of the 60's and 70's.newer cars.newer engines, turbos.fuel injections.nos.play around with the stuf,be able to strip everything even cross build cars.own engine design, custom ratios...make something that we only dream of in real life.
I know im asking a lot and its not gona be easy.but SR was a really a special game for me.even if I could never beat the KING.I still tried
Good luck
Put simply is sreetrod combined with gear head garage and games like hotrod American street drag, whole slew of things like cylinder boring and and timing guns and possible cam shafts.
also the the time of 1972 is what its gonna be every one asks for turbos and newers cars and the answer has been always no, however if the game gets done there could be sequel or addon mod it would just be case of adding content. i've been doing research IRL about IRL street racing and turbos and VWs and Porches didn't come into the scene until a few years after where sr3 takes place even then what talking about sounds more like street rice 3 a new generation. how ever at the time street racing died mainly because of the oil embargo which sr3 takes place just before the oil embargo.
like i said an addon/mod could be made, heck we could call it StreetRod: the Last generation or even StreetRod: a new generation.
Very cool that the project has risen from the grave once again 8)
I like the new logo :) Is the code being redone from scratch or is it still the same codebase?
Wow, welcome back TSJ! I see I just missed you in the chat room. Probably because you only stayed for 30 seconds. =) You'll have to be a little more patient if you want somebody to respond to you before you quit. =)
We're starting everything from scratch. The old code is solely being used as advertising material now, to give potential coders and devteam members an idea of what we're all about. It won't be in any way part of the new game though.
TSJ I would suggest asking Megariffer and Giszo coding questions Veno as much as the old demo is hilarious as it is fail who knows what or why but, the coders may want to examine it learn from, my guess is what NOT to do but, who knows.
Glad to see a familiar face.
Thanks for the kind words :)
I know I didn't stay long on the chat yesterday, but I was heading off to sleep, but just popped into the chat to say a very quick hello :)
I became a father in the meantime (happened last year), so I no longer decide my own bedtime :o
It is good news that the game will be based on a new codebase. I would recommend Irrlicht for 3D graphics, if the game is going to be coded in C++. I will talk to Megariffer and Giszo when I get a chance :)
I have some unreleased car models from Mr Chris somewhere btw...
I was supposed to put them into the old sr3 but then everything grinded into a halt.
I would'nt mind using what time I have, to help with coding and modelling. Long live SR3!
LSD! Congrats on the spawn! I too had another one, too...the wife wanted to try for a girl...but lo and behold...another boy! Now I got 3! lol!
Dano! :) Thanks. Yikes... 3......of those......things :)
