Bring extra cars and tracks out in updates. And when the game gets out there and more people own it, you could have a poll every few months (depends how popular it gets) of 5 or so cars, and the one with the highest amount of votes gets made and then comes out in an update.
Hmm, yeah. Alternatively (or even simultaneously?) we could have a fansite exclusively for add-on cars and tracks.

why even go that far, just incorporate steam workshop.

That would work even better. My idea behind having a poll on what car should be made next was based on that not heaps of people know how to make a car than can be incorporated into the game, unless there is some sort of program that could be used to make it easier.

The only issue is that we'd have to get it incorporated or whatever with Steam.

Mod managers do exist for certain games (GTA San Andreas for example), so that could work.

Steam Greenlight for getting on steam.

With unity being more popular and the fact you program in it, with java or C probably means integrating steam support should very well be plausible.

The only issue with Greenlight is that you need to go commercial IIRC.

That seems like a no-brainer to me.  We'll need a website for updates and technical support anyway.  Should we just use this site?  A second one as a backup might be a good idea, but it seems like this site should be kept up indefinitely after the release, right?

Sure, why not?

Yeah, but it wouldn't hurt to decide on an overall format for the site, or at least a NAME for it. Maybe even look into domain names?

I'm with CJJ on this one. The streetrod3.com site is for all things Street Rod 3, including ongoing development, support, addons, etc. It won't just become defunct once we launch. It will adapt, with forums and support for the ongoing development and maintenance of the game.
Street Rod 3 is brought to you by Binary Literature. We are not dead yet!

Yeah i'm not as active and take way too long to do things i'm not even sure if i can dev any more but, as other original member shyed away form SR3 as life and jobs relationships advanced i'm always willing to break of a few dollars form income even when i don't have any.

suffice to say, ST1 said it, we are still here.
