As you might have read on streetrodonline.com, the mysterious Street Rod Data Disks have been found.

Very soon we will know whether we can play Street Rod with a whole new set of cars or not.

As promised, some more news. I talked with one of the original developers and he affirmed that the Street Rod Car Data Disk exists.

Right now it's a bit of a myth indeed.

But with strong suggestions that it's true, see my evidence below (which is also available on streetrodonline.com)
I'm working quietly on more evidence, I hope to publish more news this month.

Development / Re: Game engine

I didn't realise anyone bought the rights let alone was working on a remake (also browser based using JS!).
I chose to use plain DOM elements (with CSS3 for animation, jQuery for interaction and Java for server side state management) instead of canvas.

Unity3D is great; you could consider that if/when a 3D sequel becomes an option.
I reviewed Unity3D and it looks great for rapid (3d) development. On the downside, you have to learn a lot before you can produce something of quality.

BTW, is your project on hold due to legal reasons or is it simply down to having no time to work on it at the moment?
No time to work on it indeed.

The reason I'm asking is that the preview URL only redirects to the main page...
That's right, I took the preview server offline because it was wasting electricity (:

(a lot of text)

I agree with the above.

I think I'll take a look at Unity as well.
The features got me interested.

I wonder if you already purchased a Unity3d license.

The movie in the first message of this post looks promising.

How much time did it take to create this demo? How's the learning curve? How's the balance between drag/drop/configure and real programming?

Development / Re: Development roadmap

Why not? It might help you with splitting up the project in manageable chunks. It can also help you to focus on the most important parts.

How should I interpret the word "fancy"?

Is there a roadmap for Street Rod 3? (What can we expect and in which version)

I see/read a lot of great ideas on this forum.
Do you use a tool to manage all those ideas? And do you plan them for a certain version?

Suggestions / Re: Kickstarter

Some time I'm gonna have to get my shit together and do some real work and make some sort of "History of SR3" sometime especially being as old as it is, Including info/story from when it was first conceived.

Sounds like a very good plan.

As a side effect you might get some people's spirit back.

Development / Re: Licensing - Code - Distribution

Last december I acquired copyright ownership of Street Rod and Street Rod 2.

Who's the product owner of Street Rod 3? We need to get in contact.

Something to worry about even more: How can we use real car brand names in Street Rod?
That'll be nearly impossible without paying huge sums of money and follow strict guidelines set out by the manufacturers.
