I am thinking that we would need the following scenes in the game :

need to have... (this is a list of the scenes that were in SR1)

garage
gas tank
diner
road race
drag race
cruising

nice to have...

additional garages
additional gas tanks
additional diners
munholland / mountain race
aqueduct race
junkyard
tool shop
new and used cars shop
parts shops
free roam
specific races and events like gungee night
car shows ?
car auction
car customization center / body shop ?
npc garage / car fixer ?

back road (dirt/gravel country roads)
regular roads
high ways
more....

nix free roam, that's A LOT of work and even then players would complain about invisible walls. TBH following Hot Rod: American Street Drag's lead and use 2d menus (for lack of more explanation) to select various locations would help us out a lot and allow us to focus on other things.

EDIT: I have a garage scene on hand, it's total redo of the old one, though it it's old news,

Sounds good...

Year I can see your point regarding free roam...

But we could still make a "driving" animation when "moving" from garage to a location such as the gas tank... just like in sr1 and 2 :) this is what I am thinking that the "cruising" scene could be for :)

Additional nice to have scenes...

Wrecking yard
Gungee Night
Burnout scene?
Test track?

IDK about the driving animation, the game is going to be first and 3rd person and 3D so I'd think would be matter of having the just drive it's self to the gas station.

For a test track again it would be smart to follow HRASD's lead and just use the normal tracks you race opponents in except instead of race you are timing you laps/car.

What's a gungee night? Also what do you mean by a burn out scene? Like the burn outs in Need For Speed Pro street?

Something like NFS pro street burnouts could be cool I guess...

gungee night is the special event race from SR2.

I disagree, the burnouts in pro street was one of the worst things about Pro Street, it's cool idea but, after about the 5th time it gets tiring and while after that it's either annoying or kind of pisses you off. I say this having more than likely OVER 200 hours in NFS Pro Street. I've played way more than mafia 2 and i have over 200 hours in mafia 2.

In older games if you pressed the gas/go button before the race your tires spin out and smoke, thats all good.

Yeah events should and will be there just like in SR 1 and 2.
