Yup. I have definitely been following Marco's work on SRO and release of the originals.

It's going slowly. atm i'm pretty busy before the 4 th of july.

We have decided to go with a new game game engine called unity 3D. It does ALOT of the ground for you and is VERY customizable and lets you write your own code/scripts in C and Java.

I think we need to learn how to get antiquated with it Unity to get some kind of tech demo going and lay out of the guide lines of what SR3 is and what it would/should be like to kind of get every one on the same page.

I am crrently following a "car tutorial" for unity and its going well... I have a car that sorta is able to drive on a track with collision detection ... I have just followed a very basic tutorial for now. but I managed to put in a few extra props from the assets store.

I hope I in time will be able to build something more usefull once I dive more into the coding part of unity...  It seems to use the C# and Javascript languages, both of which I am familiar with.

 

I found some free prefabs that will work very nicely as gas tank and junkyard... Still needs to find something to use as a garage and something to use as a diner

Sounds nice. The cool thing about unity is there are some much nicer car handling plugins we can get for not much money.

I speculate things will get far more complex when start adding engine modifications to the game, so i speculate codding will be needed there.

The car tutorial has scripts for car handling, but I do not know yet if it is able to take into account the realism we need for sr3 and the various parameters that will be set by the car parts.

yeah quite a few tuts. At least I don't have to feel bad for having no idea what i'm doing it's seems unity lacks some decent educational material.

As far as I can tell the car scripts included are proof of concept, there are much nicer one on the unity store.

Yes, we might need to spend money on stuff like scripts and other stuff once we figure out whats what in unity

I haven't even considered it possibility but a requirement. The full version of Unity is something like $1500 USD plus another $600 USD for extra "seats". If this gets going were definitely gonna want the the pay for stuff and i'm willing drop the coin if and when... if possible.

I seem to recall reading this thread ages ago.  However, I didn't have a copy of Street Rod SE in my hands at that point.  I've been fiddling with it, thoroughly enjoying it, although as I've said many times I would like to see all of the original games combined, if possible.  Marco seems to be considering something like this, as he plans to do an Android version with completely new code (presumably Java).

an android version that combines 1+2+SE would be very awesome... especially if it used amiga level graphics or better

Marco's project is basically just exactly that but, with the DOS graphics.

I think MArco has been very busy with work so he put his project on hold.
