The idea of scrubbing your car your self isn't a first and i have played games (a game) when you have to scrub the car your self. suffice to say it borders along one of those moments where you yell out  " WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!" not unlike the angry video game nerd.
XD I can imagine. Anyway, the idea behind the car wash thing is basically that the player can make things shinier and nicer, for a cost; either some menial task (like washing or waxing the car) or a small fee (so someone will do it for you). The benefit of making your car look nicer/faster would be that higher-ranked opponents would face you, but that could also be a problem if you rice your car instead of tuning up the engine (as many new players would realize). IIRC that's an actual (small) game mechanic in SR1/SR2, to the point where leaving the car exterior untouched would result in all-stock/only slightly modified opponent cars.

A car wash is a viable idea not sure if we want to the do the whole dirt thing, maybe we can do the dirt thing for road races that take place on dirt/gravel after a certain number of races. little know fact country back road racing has been planned for sr3 since before i joined the project.

You have my attention.

I thought of something while writing a reply to another topic: a Fun-Balance-Realism analog slider for each element of the game, separate from the normal difficulty selector(s).
Fun: Cartoonish, silly, nonsensical fun. Not balanced, not realistic.
Balance: Each pro has a con, and each benefit has a downside. Not necessarily fun or realistic.
Realism: Simulation! Not necessarily fun or balanced.

The idea here is that you can either play Midnight Club With Only Muscle Cars And You Can Upgrade Your Cars, or you can play NFS Muscly Cars, or you can play Gran Muscly Turismo, or any combination of those examples.

I feel mean for shooting that down. that balance as far as i know relies on the game engine's physics setup and vehicle handling so it would pretty much be locked, EXCEPT for mods like gta series you makes what every wacky vehicles or cray handling files you wanted so it isn't totally moot.  It is an interesting idea though.

Also SR3 actually has been planning for 10 years and has quite bit cut out such as advanced vehicle parts/modding cams, boring, strokers kits and mods like chopping and lowering and stuff like a timing light guns also multiplayer and multiple unlock able areas of course some of it is at the mercy of weather or not it can be coded or implemented.
