Well you could play SR 1 and 2 or an even neater idea... we could make sr1 and 2 mods. we could remake sr1 and 2 as mods for sr3. of course this is all distant future ideas but, that might actually be kind of neat to play the old games/eras but, on the sr3 system/engine.

What operating system are you using?
Windows XP SP3. No, I'm not shelling out for 7 at the end of its lifespan. Not for ~$70.

Well a game engine we are looking to use pretty much does that for you.
Cool!...but how?

Well if a newbie mode won't work then A) don't play, B) grab a real life manual. Seriously though properly done help dialogs would more than likely do the tricks the only catch is they would need to be optional & easy to turn on, as to not annoy experienced players.
That makes sense, but IMO a touch or two more would help (like a diagram in the background that you can click on and refer to, or something).

That there has been some progress since that video?
As in, I hope the dev.s aren't trying to let the game write itself.

hhhhmmm maybe we can add some sort of newbie mode or something but, basically it is aimed towards people who know cares and engines.
I know, but the idea being that it would ease new players into what they need to know. Newbie modes can be a little alienating or just distracting (players could learn "newbie mode" and fail to learn anything at all).

I mean, what if you could start the game at a given time, like the '50s or '60s, as opposed to a predefined time? I think I touched on this in the hypothetical LP.

The GHG community has come and gone. It was an amazing game at the time. It hasn't aged so well i think it only runs well on windows 98.
Runs fine for me, just run it in lame old DX7 mode.

IMO it would make more sense if SR3 was completed (or at least at a stable beta) before porting began.

Is anyone going to officially say that there has been some progress since that video?

Put simply, what if we had "eras" of cars?

My mom's '92 Accord has yet to let me down. Now, if only I could convince my dad that I'm not as reckless as he thinks I am...

A few things.
1. What if we had a give-me-a-hint button? For example, click on it and then click on your engine to make it show you a labelled diagram of an engine, along with notes on engines?
2. It's not totally obvious what is and what is not useful; that which can be used should probably be either exaggerated (via color or lighting) or should show an outline when hovered-over (like in L4D/L4D2).

GTA3: Play it or die.
GTA San Andreas: May or may not be for you, but
GTA4: Definitely worth a try, but not the best of the series IMO. It just doesn't feel right. Map mods tend to make it a lot more fun, as well as
Battlefield 2: Excellently balanced, though its mods are what make it great.
Rigs of Rods: Vehicle physics sandbox of excellent quality...when you're not splattering your car across the map by dropping it from a plane. Get it here.
Ace of Spades: Go get it!
Minecraft: Duh. Made better with mods.
VegaStrike: You start with a ship from the player character's best friend from the military (recently deceased) and do whatever. Have fun.
Fallout New Vegas: Fun, for all its glitches and weirdnesses.
GeneRally: Spelled exactly the same as the word generally, but a fun, free, easy-to-mod 3D racing sim thingy anyway. Plays from an unusual isometric-ish perspective.
