Interstate '76 Topic
« on: August 19, 2014, 09:27:55 pm »
Although I'76 has had its heyday come and go, and more recently Edouard (of limited Facebook group fame) managed to get a few games going, I suspect that the main reason I'76 is so dead is the lack of people who know about it.

A steam release would help it more than GOG release.

On one hand, yes, and on the other, no.
Yes: The game would reach more people, and its low requirements would make it a very popular game (again).
No: Some people just hate DRM in general (and therefore like GoG), and people who use Steam generally want new(er) games rather than old(er) games.

The second is an assumption, steam just doesn't offer as many older games.

Also steam is DRM OPTIONAL for publishers/devs, there exist DRM free games on steam.

Yeah, but it's not always obvious when a game is or isn't DRM-free. I know Gunpoint (which was made with Game Maker) and SuperCrateBox (which is free) are both DRM-free, for example, whereas there are zero Valve-made games that are DRM-free.
