News / NFS World Offline
« Last post by Maxaxle on November 19, 2015, 01:38:32 am »
The F2P game "Need For Speed World" died four-ish months ago, so it's being brought back in a way that brings it out of the tyrannical domain of EA. It's being brought back as "Need For Speed World Offline". Current version is a modded listen server and client bundled into the same .exe, with all sorts of cheats (like infinite money) enabled and no way to pay for anything (none of the ingame activities reward the player, and none of the links to buy more ingame currency with IRL currency work).

TL;DR "If you were ever interested in Need For Speed World, but wanted everything for free, here's your chance."

Currently NFSWO is singleplayer-only, but multiplayer without EA is being worked on.

This is a really long shot.  In the before time, the long long ago of street rod 3 there was an IRC channel, somewhere.  I posted up some C code to dump the sprites for SR1 and SR2 (vga) but I never uploaded it to github or anything and it finally ended up on a single disk that crashed hard about a year ago.  I remember it being kind of a pain of the ass to reverse and I never figured out why it was so complicated so if anyone has it by some miracle that would be awesome.

If you ever get that code you might let Marco know.

How long long ago? like 2009 - 2011 or like 2003 - 2006, or maybe way way way way back like 2001? Cause if you ever posted it the older forums, there may be a slim chance (that i know of)

When switiching to 3D many games became much slower and lost much of the atmosphere of their 2D predecessors.
What i feel is important is for the Garage part of the game to not be excessivley time consuming just like the old games where.

Trust me on this, SR3 lost nothing by going to 3D. It's one of the very very very few games that keeps all of it's originality.  I'm actually writing up a small article about what exactly sr3 is and a little bit about 2D to 3D transition and keeping the originality.

hi all, new to this place but I am hoping to become "part of the fruniture".

I have experience with 3ds max and I have just begun teaching myself Unity.

My goal is to get an Australian version of this going, based maybe in the late 70s early 80's.

Heres some of my work:

My god...I can't believe that this site is still alive! I couldn't even remember my login details as it was so many years ago that I logged in and just had to sign back up and say hello.

I stumbled on to the site after looking at a game called Automation and for some reason StreetRod3 popped in to my head after all these years. I was more suprised to see the last update between then and now being 2012 and then 2015. The last time I logged in must have been when the community broke down...seems like a long time ago now!

This game has so much potential...it's a crime that it didn't work out in the early days and become the hit game that it should be. Is there any community left, and how many are working on the game still?

new forum software. the old forums got the AXE. We would like a to make an archive one day if that's possible. Sr3 has been around for YEARS! since 2001 i think. I believe we have one coder making some stuff using the UNITY 3D engine. Today we have some many software options that we didn't have back in the day.
